Retellings

Yesterday was EXHAUSTING, but Plenary revived me this morning. The Jaberwocky made me laugh, Billy Collins made me envision, the Iliad made me grieve, Dr. Seuss made me giggle, and Emily Dickinson made me contemplate. I appreciate poetry. I perform poetry. I adore poetry. I ponder poetry.

How old were you when you read your first HP book?
Probably around 10 or 11? Good thing I wasn’t the fan I am now.. I would have waited for a letter from hogwarts on my 11th birthday and I would have been crushed!!

How old were you when you saw your first HP movie? 
10 or 11

How did you hear about HP?
the first movie was out and created a lot of worry among the parents at my school (were the books evil? witchcraft?) so I didnt get to get them for some time.. but one night my best friend came over for a sleepover and in a tent in my backyard she read to me out loud the scene in the sorcerer’s stone in which harry meets voldemort in the forbidden forest for the first time… we were screaming so loud that my mom made us sleep inside.. i eventually convinced her to let me read the series.

What was your favourite book?
Its either Half Blood Prince or Deathly Hallows.. so much more depth to all the characters and the plot comes together to wonderfully

What was your favourite movie?
Deathly Hallows part 2…. duhhhhhhhhhhh

Who is your favourite HP character?
probably ron.. i identify with him so much

Who is your least favourite HP character?
cornelius fudge or maybe professor lockhart..

Who is your favourite Weasley?
after ron? i’ve ALWAYS loved fred and george but ginny won me over in books 5-7

Percy!

What was your favourite Weasley Twin Prank?

oh boy.. all the little ones (maybe not pranks) but I appreciate the times they joked about harry being the heir of slytherin in book 2 or their attempt to enter the triwizard tournement and OF COURSE the skivng snackboxes

i’m going to have to say sirius because even though he didn’t do much in the second war, i can’t help but think of what he fought for in the first war

Draco, because you really do feal sorry for him by the end of the series

James and Sirius… kind of a package deal for me like Fred and George. BEST FRIENDS!

Harry/Ginny AND Ron/Hermione are both just so perfect and wonderful!

I follow the books very strictly.. I can’t say I approve of any relationship not supported by JK herself

Although the obvious one would be Lupin, I kind of feal that Mad-Eye (Barty Crouch Jr.) probably prepared the students best for the coming war, which was the irony of all ironies… but yes personality wise I loved professor Lupin

Umbridge and Lockhart equally frustrated me

Lost my macaroon virginity at the Ocean Beach farmer’s market over spring break. Life changing.

So much to do today, even though none of it will probably matter in a weeks time. Sad, yet comforting.

The weekend was full of tears, cookie dough, cuddling with my dog, and my onesie. Yes, I am nineteen. If I learned anything, I learned that I can’t do anything on my own and my plans are always going to fail. God is my provider, my strength, and my identity. Thanks mom.

Today felt kind of like this. It was nice.

A couple of summers ago a friend and I spent a week at her grandmother’s beach house. We left for Newport the day after Sophomore year ended. One night we stayed up late and watched this cheesy Chinese melodrama and put our own words to it. It really was hilarious.

The next morning I woke up gradually. I really love doing that. My favorite is when it’s kind of sunny and I feel really warm, so I stay in bed for a little longer. My friend and I had slept in the living room and her grandmother was making breakfast and singing along to Corrine Bailey Rae. It was magic; not her grandmother’s voice, but the combination of it all. The slow jazz music, the sunshine peeking through the curtains, the nice soft couch, and that warm fuzzy feeling you have when you just wake up. I’ve loved Corrine Bailey Rae ever since because she reminds me of those moments between waking and dreamland.

But listen to the lyrics, because they’re so much better than my dumb story and that’s what I hope this blog will be about. I hope that through my writing, pictures, songs, quotes, whatever, that YOU can find some meaning in it; maybe something that I don’t even notice.
